Job description
As a PHP Developer at Vyavsaay, you will build and maintain backend functionality for company products and client projects across websites, web applications and business systems. You will work with PHP, MySQL, REST APIs and front-end teams to develop new features, improve existing modules, integrate third-party services and keep production applications secure, stable and performant. The role also involves debugging real-world issues, reviewing existing code, improving database queries and supporting deployments without breaking established functionality.
Roles & responsibilities
- Develop, enhance and maintain PHP-based websites, web applications and backend modules used in production.
- Build secure server-side logic, reusable components and REST API integrations for web and mobile workflows.
- Design, write and optimize MySQL queries, database relationships and data-driven application features.
- Integrate third-party services such as payment gateways, messaging tools, authentication systems and other business APIs.
- Work closely with front-end, mobile, design and product teams to convert requirements into stable working features.
- Debug application errors, resolve production issues and identify root causes without introducing regressions.
- Improve application performance, code quality, security and maintainability across existing and new modules.
- Validate inputs, protect sensitive data and follow secure development practices for authentication, forms, uploads and database operations.
- Use Git for source control and participate in code reviews, testing and controlled deployments.
- Understand existing project logic before making changes and preserve working functionality while implementing enhancements.
- Document important technical decisions, integrations and deployment requirements so projects remain maintainable.
Skills & qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical development experience.
- Strong working knowledge of PHP and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Hands-on experience with MySQL, relational database design, joins, indexing and query optimization.
- Good understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and how front-end applications interact with PHP backends.
- Experience building or consuming REST APIs and working with JSON-based integrations.
- Understanding of authentication, sessions, validation, file uploads, security and common web application vulnerabilities.
- Experience with Git and a structured development workflow.
- Ability to read, understand and safely modify existing codebases, including legacy or production code.
- Strong debugging, logical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to edge cases.
- Familiarity with PHP frameworks such as Laravel or similar MVC frameworks is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of Linux hosting, web servers, deployment and production troubleshooting is preferred.
- Clear communication, ownership of assigned work and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
