MERN Developer

Job description

As a MERN Developer at Vyavsaay, you will contribute across the complete application stack—from responsive React interfaces and reusable frontend components to Node.js/Express APIs and MongoDB-backed business logic. You will build new features, improve existing modules, integrate third-party services, handle authentication and data flows, troubleshoot production issues and help ensure that applications remain secure, performant, scalable and maintainable as they grow.

Roles & responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full-stack web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React and Node.js.
• Build responsive, reusable and maintainable React components for dashboards, portals and customer-facing interfaces.
• Develop secure REST APIs with Node.js and Express for authentication, business workflows, reporting and data-driven features.
• Design and maintain MongoDB schemas, relationships, indexes and queries with attention to data integrity and performance.
• Implement authentication, authorization, validation, session/token handling and role-based access where required.
• Integrate third-party services such as payment gateways, notifications, email, file storage, analytics and other business APIs.
• Manage frontend and backend state, loading states, errors and API communication in a predictable and user-friendly manner.
• Debug issues across the full stack—from browser behaviour and React state to API logic, server logs and database queries.
• Improve application performance, API response times, frontend rendering efficiency and database access patterns.
• Write clean, modular code and safely enhance existing production systems without breaking established functionality.
• Use Git for source control and collaborate through structured branching, review, testing and deployment workflows.
• Work closely with designers, product teams and other developers to convert business requirements into complete working features.
• Follow secure development practices and protect sensitive user, customer and application data.
• Support production deployments, monitor issues after release and resolve bugs or regressions quickly.

Skills & qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical development experience.
• Strong JavaScript fundamentals and hands-on experience with the MERN stack: MongoDB, Express.js, React and Node.js.
• Good understanding of React components, hooks, state management, routing and reusable frontend architecture.
• Experience building REST APIs with Node.js and Express, including validation, middleware and error handling.
• Practical knowledge of MongoDB data modelling, aggregation, indexing and query optimization.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization patterns such as JWT, sessions or token-based access.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to work with third-party APIs, JSON data, asynchronous operations and external integrations.
• Good understanding of web security, input validation, access control and common application vulnerabilities.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across frontend, backend and database layers.
• Understanding of responsive design, browser behaviour, performance optimization and production-ready frontend practices.
• Familiarity with deployment, environment variables, Linux/server environments or cloud hosting is preferred.
• Experience with TypeScript, automated testing or modern build/deployment pipelines is an advantage.
• Clear communication, ownership of assigned work and the ability to safely work with existing production code.
