Android App Developer

Job description

As an Android App Developer at Vyavsaay, you will develop and maintain native Android applications from feature implementation through testing and release. You will convert product requirements and UI designs into responsive Android screens, integrate secure REST APIs, manage local and remote data, implement authentication and business logic, work with device capabilities and third-party SDKs, troubleshoot production issues and help keep applications stable, secure and performant across supported Android versions and devices.

Roles & responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance native Android applications using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Build responsive and reusable UI components that follow Android design guidelines and work across supported screen sizes and devices.
• Integrate mobile applications with REST APIs for authentication, business workflows, customer data and real-time application features.
• Work with JSON data, asynchronous calls, loading states, error handling and offline/poor-network scenarios.
• Implement secure local storage, sessions, tokens, permissions and sensitive-data handling using appropriate Android practices.
• Integrate third-party SDKs and services such as push notifications, payment gateways, maps, analytics, deep links and file/image uploads.
• Use Android architecture patterns such as MVVM or similar structured approaches to keep code maintainable and testable.
• Work with local persistence technologies such as Room/SQLite, SharedPreferences or DataStore when required.
• Debug issues using Android Studio, Logcat, network tools and backend/API logs to identify root causes across the full mobile flow.
• Optimize application performance, startup time, memory use, API efficiency and battery/resource consumption.
• Collaborate with backend developers, designers and product teams to turn requirements into complete working features.
• Use Git for source control and participate in code reviews, testing and controlled release workflows.
• Prepare signed release builds, manage build variants/configuration and support Google Play Store release and update processes.
• Understand existing production logic before making changes and avoid regressions while improving live applications.

Skills & qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical mobile development experience.
• Strong working knowledge of native Android development using Kotlin; Java experience is also valuable.
• Good understanding of Android SDK, activities/fragments, lifecycle, intents, services and modern Android components.
• Experience integrating REST APIs, handling JSON data and implementing authentication-based mobile workflows.
• Working knowledge of Android architecture patterns such as MVVM and common libraries/components used in modern Android development.
• Experience with local storage using Room/SQLite, DataStore or SharedPreferences.
• Understanding of push notifications, permissions, background tasks and Android security best practices.
• Experience integrating third-party SDKs such as payments, maps, analytics or similar services is an advantage.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using Android Studio, Logcat and API/network inspection tools.
• Experience with Git and collaborative source-control workflows.
• Understanding of app performance, build configuration, signing, release management and Google Play Store deployment.
• Knowledge of Material Design, responsive layouts and creating polished mobile UI/UX.
• Familiarity with backend APIs, Node.js services or SQL-based systems is an advantage for end-to-end debugging.
• Strong ownership, attention to detail and the ability to safely work with existing production code.
